Myofascial Release Therapy

Why choose Myofascial Release?

Myofascial Release Therapy is a soft tissue therapy that works to release restrictions throughout the ‘fascia’ within the body. Trauma, poor posture, ageing, injury and inflammation can lead to multiple restrictions and adhesions in the fascia within the body. Restoring the fascia back to its optimal, hydrated form can create a positive physical and mental impact within the body.

MFR is carried out without any oil (with minimal clothing) thereby allowing a therapist to feel and work deeper into the myofascial tissue. The technique involves the use of skilled ‘listening’ hands to release tension and restrictions found in the myofascial tissues of the body and enable long lasting freedom and change in the tissues. Some of the techniques are extremely subtle and very gentle. Others can work deeper into the layers of the myofascia, which surround all our tissues and organs.

Clients often report that myofascial release is deeply relaxing and satisfying. The movements are slow and sustained, and should never be painful. At times it may feel uncomfortable, but the body really wants to feel a release of tension and amazing changes in the body are possible.

I use MFR to help improve the symptoms of many different conditions, sometimes alongside massage, in particular for chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia, long standing injuries and chronic pain. I help guide the body to find ways to heal naturally, when other therapies haven’t been able to help.

Some of the potential benefits of myofascial release may include:

Less pain

Improved general heath & wellbeing

Encouraging healing from injury

Increased proprioception & interoception

Reduced emotional discomfort

Improved mobility and joint range

Help to improve sporting performance
